UAE-Tanzania travel: Emirates resumes Dubai-Dar es Salaam flights
flydubai’s Zanzibar operations continue unaffected throughout the disruption
DUBAI – Emirates has restarted its regular passenger flights between Dubai and Dar es Salaam after operations were suspended for five days due to civil unrest in Tanzania’s largest city.
In a travel update issued on Wednesday, the airline confirmed that all services between Dubai International Airport and Dar es Salaam have now resumed.
Passengers connecting via Dubai with a final destination in Dar es Salaam are once again being accepted for travel at their point of origin.
The temporary suspension affected Emirates’ seven-times-weekly schedule between the two cities, leading to the cancellation of multiple flights from October 31 to November 4.
The impacted services included EK725 and EK726 flights operating both ways on those dates. The airline has advised travellers with affected bookings to contact their travel agency or Emirates directly to rebook their itineraries.
Operations stabilise
With the situation in Tanzania gradually returning to normal, authorities have lifted the night-time curfew in Dar es Salaam that was imposed following election-related protests. Shops, schools, and public transport services have reopened, and internet connectivity has been restored across the city.
Emirates has expressed regret for any inconvenience caused by the disruption and urged all passengers travelling to or from Tanzania to ensure their contact details are up to date for the latest notifications.
Zanzibar route unaffected
During the suspension period, flydubai’s 21-times-weekly route to Zanzibar – another major Tanzanian destination – continued to operate as scheduled.
Emirates’ decision to resume the Dubai-Dar es Salaam connection marks the full restoration of its Tanzania network, reinforcing the airline’s commitment to maintaining safe and reliable air links between the UAE and East Africa.
